Can you do liposuction on calves?

The answer to that question is yes! If the problem is due to fat locally on the calf, liposuction can be used to reduce the circumference of the calves.

Who is suitable for calf liposuction?

Those who are bothered by large legs from the knees down to the calf can have their calves resculpted to create a more proportionate shape, or a shape they find more aesthetically pleasing.

The fatty tissue of the calves is often slightly harder than elsewhere on the body, so the area is sensitive - we use very narrow cannulas for calf liposuction. A positive aspect of this is that the scars are very small. Swelling and bruising may occur, but apart from this, the results are often immediately visible.

Other causes of large calves

At Conturkliniken®, we believe that no two people are the same - so even the best treatment option is unique to you.

But it is not certain that the reason for large calves is localised fat, although it is easy to think so - or to feel so.

  • Muscles. Another possibility is that the size is due to muscles, perhaps you do a lot of running? However, muscular calves are rarely perceived as a problem.
  • Lipoedema. Lipoedema can cause thick calves and is often associated with pain. Liposuction of the calves both improves shape and reduces pain.
  • Lymphoedema. Lymphoedema is a swelling caused by fluid. It is most common in the legs or arms.
