What do I need to consider before fillers or botox?
There are a number of things you need to consider before having an injection treatment with fillers or botox. Here we list a few things that can help you prepare for a treatment so that you feel as safe and comfortable as possible. Several things will also help you achieve the best possible results after the treatment.
You are welcome to contact us if you have more questions about what to consider before botox or fillers, or if you want to book a consultation.
Choose the right practitioner
Of course, you should choose a practitioner that you feel comfortable with and trust. It is important that the practitioner, who may be a doctor or nurse, is licensed and has the legal right to perform the treatment. We who work here at Conturkliniken® and perform this type of treatment are licensed and have extensive experience.
If you want to find out more about what applies to practitioners under the new law on injection therapies introduced in July 2021, you can do so here here.
Things to avoid before getting fillers or botox.
There are things you should avoid before having a botox or filler treatment to ensure the best possible results. Some things can increase the risk of bruising, which is bleeding of the skin, as they make you more prone to bleeding.
Before your aesthetic injection treatment you should think about avoiding:
- Alcohol and other drugs – Alcohol (and also other drugs) has a blood-thinning effect that can increase the risk of bruising.
- Analgesic tablets containing
- Acetylsalicylic acid – Painkillers such as Treo, Aspirin and Magnecyl also have a blood-thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising.
- Anti-inflammatory drugs – For example, Ipren, Voltaren, Ibuprofen, Albyl and Magnecyl.
- Omega-3 – Omega-3 has a blood-thinning effect. You may want to avoid taking Omega-3 about two weeks before your treatment.
When should I not do a filler treatment?
Sometimes the best option is to avoid having a filler treatment. We are concerned about your safety and therefore do not perform treatments when you are
- have an infection in your body and feel ill
- a history of allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to fillers.
- are pregnant or breastfeeding.
