  • What to consider before and after IPL treatment?

  • Answer:

You should not sunbathe 4 weeks before or 4 weeks after the treatment. Do not use 'sunless tanning'.

You should not do the treatment if you are taking certain medications that make you sensitive to light.

After the treatment, do not take a sauna for the next 48 hours and do not shower/bath too hot.

  • What is the difference between IPL laser and KTP laser?

  • I have burst blood vessels on my face. What is the difference between the IPL laser and the KTP laser, which some clinics use?

    Answer:

The KTP laser is an older type of laser that is not currently considered the first choice for treating vessels.
IPL is a newer technology called intense pulsed light - a further development of laser technology.

  • What does one look like after an IPL treatment?

  • Answer:

There is a reddening of the skin after the treatment, how much depends on how many vessels you have. The redness settles quite quickly. Some people get a little swollen, especially if they have a lot of vessels on their cheeks. It may take a few days for the swelling to disappear completely.

  • Can I wear make-up after the IPL treatment?

  • Answer:

Yes, you can apply make-up immediately after an IPL treatment.

  • Is IPL a one-off treatment?

  • Answer:

When treating e.g. vessels, 2-4 treatments are recommended with an interval of about 4 weeks.
Depending on the cause of the vessels, maintenance treatment may be recommended (such as for Rosacea). Individual vascular nodules may disappear with treatment.

  • Do you do neck and décolleté treatments?

  • I have been wondering for a while what to do about my wrinkles and sagging skin? I look like an old lady on my neck and décolletage. Then I found you, but I was unsure because I was told by my friend that it is not possible to do neck and décolletage? What is the rule?

    Answer:

Neck and décolleté can be treated with our medical skin care programme; chemical peeling or IPL. Welcome to a consultation with Carina, our specialist nurse, where you will get answers to your questions.

  • How to remove rosacea by laser on the nose and cheeks?

  • Answer:

Rosacea is what is known as adult acne, which is treated both with creams and with IPL for the vascular part, which we have good experience with.

How does an IPL treatment work?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It is a technique based on medical laser technology, which we at Conturkliniken® have extensive experience with.

  1. Consultation & planning You will have a thorough consultation with the clinic's laser nurse, and you will plan the most appropriate treatment for your condition.
  2. Preparations You will be given specific instructions on how to prepare, but the most important thing is that you are not sunburnt as the light is attracted to darker pigments.
  3. The treatment itself Unique technology with built-in cooling for gentler treatment. The treatment takes anywhere from a few minutes to up to an hour, depending on the size of the skin area to be treated.
  4. The time after No healing time that prevents you from functioning socially. Depending on the nature of your skin problems and the condition of your skin, 1-3 treatments may be required to achieve the expected results.

IPL treatment is a safe and proven method with minimal side effects. The skin may be slightly red or swollen afterwards, but this disappears within 24 hours. In rare cases, a small blister may occur, but this disappears quickly.

What is the difference between IPL and laser?

An IPL treatment and a laser treatment have several similarities but also some differences. Both laser and IPL are light, but where laser produces light of one wavelength, IPL produces light of multiple wavelengths.

pigment spots on the face

IPL treatment for different skin problems

  • IPL treatment of blood vessels
During an IPL treatment, energy in the form of light is sent down to the red pigments in the blood vessels, where it is converted into heat. The heat causes the blood to coagulate and the vessel to reform.
  • IPL treatment of pigment spots
When removing pigment spots, the light is absorbed by the melanin in the skin and converted into heat there too. The heat, in turn, helps to destroy the parts of the cells where the melanin is stored, and the brown pigmented areas will fade, then take on the same skin tone as the rest of your skin.
  • IPL treatment and skin rejuvenation
In terms of skin rejuvenation, the IPL light has an effect that helps increase the production of collagen in the skin, thus counteracting the signs of ageing.

An IPL treatment can be performed on the face as well as on other skin, and involves a series of intense light pulses passing through the outermost layer of the skin, affecting and reducing small facial vessels, redness, sun-damaged skin, age changes and pigmentation. The IPL treatment can also reduce acne scars, large pores and fine lines. The skin has a more even and smooth appearance!

At Conturkliniken®, we only use the latest Syneron Elos technology, which is one of the market's absolute best and most effective IPL tools in terms of patient safety, comfort and efficiency. Our equipment has a built-in cooler, which makes the treatment extra gentle on the skin, and facilitates the most effective treatment possible.

Results after an IPL treatment

Many people suffer needlessly from not feeling comfortable with their skin pigmentation, visible blood vessels, rosacea or experiences of uneven skin.

An IPL treatment is a very precise and flexible treatment method for all these skin problems: for example, you can choose to perform the IPL treatment on the whole face, single vessels, parts of the face, neck and/or décolleté.
