  • What is the difference between filler and botox?

  • Answer:

    Botox is a drug that is a muscle relaxant. It blocks the nerve impulse to the muscle that gives rise to so-called mimic/dynamic wrinkles.

    Fillers are a hyaluronic acid that is injected to restore volume, enhance shape and contour, soften, smooth wrinkles and static folds.

  • Can acidic mouths be treated with fillers?

  • I am 41 years old and, like many in my family, have always had "pulled down/sour mouths", which of course has become more pronounced over the years. I am now tired of repeatedly hearing from my children and colleagues that I look "sour" or "angry". Is Restylane something you could try?

    Answer:

    Sagging jowls can be treated with either Restylane or Juvederm, which can be combined with Botox, but also with an operation called mouth angle plasty. My advice is that you come for a consultation and I can tell you what is best and the pros and cons of each treatment.

  • Can the jawline be lifted with injections?

  • I wonder if you do injections in the jaw to lift the jawline? I have heard that you can do it and would like to do something for mine.

    Answer:

    Yes, injecting fillers or fat can enhance the jawline and give the appearance of a lift. However, with the reservation that a consultation should be carried out to see if you are a candidate for the method. Welcome to book a consultation.

  • Can you remove wrinkled skin from your elbows and make your earlobes more supple?

  • I wonder if it is possible to get help with removing some wrinkled skin at the elbows and if there is something to fill the earlobes with so that they become a little more resilient and do not stretch out when I use slightly heavier earrings?

    Answer:

    The filling of earlobes can be done with filler, such as Restylane or Juvederm, which are body-identical substances. Your own fat can also be used and it may require more than one treatment, but then it's there. Fat injections are more invasive and my recommendation is to start with filler. However, wrinkles on elbows are more difficult to resolve.

  • Can fat accumulation around the mouth/cheek be removed?

  • I have problems and great dissatisfaction with the area around my mouth. Especially what looks like fat accumulation in the form of two bumps at the mouth/cheek. What can you do about this?

    Answer:

    The area you describe is not easy to fix. There is no local intervention to recommend. One possibility is to lift the cheek, but this is a more extensive operation.

    A combination of filler and botox injections can provide an improvement.

Non-permanent fillers, Restylane/Juvéderm, are considered very safe and are associated with few and rare complications and side effects. This is primarily because the substances injected are natural to the body and because the effect of the injection products is temporary. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong, the results are reversed as the product is broken down by the body.

New law from 1 July 2021 regulates who can perform aesthetic injection treatments with fillers and the muscle relaxant Botulinum toxin.

Fillers are a wrinkle treatment with Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a gel and is found naturally in the skin and many other tissues in the body, it acts as a stabiliser for the skin and, among other things, collagen, which is important for the skin's elasticity and firmness, is intertwined with hyaluronic acid. With increasing age, hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases and wrinkles form.

The majority of preparations consist of hyaluronic acid and are the basis of many of the products used for tissue filling (fillers). They may be produced in slightly different ways and by different manufacturers, but they have similar effects and the treatments are carried out in the same way.

There are different forms of hyaluronic acid depending on where it is to be injected and for what reason. Deep folds require a coarser substance while thin superficial wrinkles or skin rejuvenation require a thinner substance. In lips, it can be beneficial to use a specialised substance for lips.

How long does a filler injection last?

The effect of the injection lasts for 3-12 months depending on the individual breakdown of the hyaluronic acid and the number of injections. However, the filler can easily achieve a localised improvement that may be desired at the moment.
