  • Does liposuction increase the risk of blood clots?

  • Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

The risk without medication is small in healthy women, unless you have a hereditary tendency to develop blood clots, smoke or take contraceptive pills. At Conturkliniken® we usually give a prescription for Fragmin, a drug that prevents the formation of blood clots. We always follow hospital recommendations.

  • How does liposuction for lipoedema work?

  • I am curious to get some information about how you work and how you deal with lipoedema in your clinic. I'm pretty sure I want to liposuction my oedema to get control of my body and would like to know as much as possible.

    Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

Liposuction for lipoedema is done in the same way as other liposuction. The difference is that lipoedema is often a larger area than traditional liposuction. As for your questions, I recommend that you come for a consultation, then we can give answers that are more accurate than by email.

  • Do I get uneven body fat after liposuction?

  • After liposuction, will fat form in other places instead, so that the whole body looks strange in the future?

    Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

No, it is not possible for fat to form elsewhere.

  • Is there a risk of internal organs being affected by liposuction?

  • Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

No, there is no risk of internal organs being affected.

  • Can a gastric bypass patient eat fat?

  • I wonder if it is possible to do liposuction on the stomach if you have had a heart attack and bypass surgery six months earlier?

    Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

Six months after both a heart attack and bypass surgery is too short - you should wait at least a year. One question is whether or not you are still taking blood thinners. Come to us and we will decide whether an operation can be performed.

  • Are there pits after liposuction?

  • I am curious about liposuction on the stomach and have some questions. I have googled a bit and read that there can be problems with pits afterwards? Some have posted before and after pictures and told me that it becomes uneven, not so nice. How do you feel about that? I am slim, 1.60 cm, 50 kg, but have fat around the navel area that cannot be trained away, I would like my stomach to be flat, but if there are pits, how do you fix it?

    Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

If pitting occurs, too much grease has been removed and grease may need to be added.

Given your height and weight, it does not sound like you are a candidate for liposuction. Come and see us at Conturkliniken® and we will discuss what you want to achieve and which treatment is best for you.

  • Can chin implants remove my double chin?

  • I have an overbite and small lower jaw and have long considered surgery or an implant in my chin. As soon as I talk or sing, I get a double chin because of this which is very frustrating. I was going to ask if an implant would be enough to get rid of this or if I need surgery on my jaw. If you have more before and after pictures of jaw surgery, please attach them.

    Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

If the bite fits and nothing else is planned by the dentist, chin implants are suitable. We do not perform jaw surgery, therefore no pictures.

A chin implant strengthens the jawline, but if there is fat under the chin, it can be removed with liposuction. A consultation will provide a more detailed assessment of the cause of your double chin.

  • Can fat reduction be done after fat freezing?

  • I want to undergo liposuction of the stomach and hips. I have not yet booked a consultation as I have been looking for a clinic + method that I feel safe with since last year. I have read the information you provide on your website and have a question; is it possible to do a fat reduction even if you have done a fat freeze on the area / areas before?

    Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

Yes, you can liposuction even if you have done a fat freeze. You are welcome to book a consultation for more information.

  • Can I do combination treatments?

  • I am thinking of doing several procedures at the same time; currently have breast implants, but want to redo these and lift, after 2 children. Also want to liposuction riding pants thighs and inner knees. Can this be done at the same time? And if so, will there be any reduced price then? Is it performed under anaesthesia?

    Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

It should be possible to perform these procedures at the same time, but it depends on the extent of both the breast surgery and liposuction. The price is reduced when a combination of different procedures is done at the same time. In such cases with multiple procedures, you must first book a consultation with us because each individual is different and we want to do what works best for you. Welcome to book a consultation.

  • Can liposuction cause nerve damage?

  • Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

The skin may be numb initially, but sensation will return and there will be no permanent nerve damage.

  • I want to get rid of my pot belly - is it possible?

  • Hi! I am 49 years old, weigh about 80kg, height 169cm. Obviously weigh too much. I have loose skin after giving birth about 20 years ago. I have loose skin even when losing weight, but what is most difficult is my posture, as the stomach is weakened and pouts a lot. I've weighed as little as 50kg and even then my stomach bulged and the loose skin was there, albeit less. I would prefer to avoid liposuction. I can probably try to get rid of some fat, but the loose skin remains ... my question is: Is it possible to tighten the abdominal wall without liposuction?

    Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

Tightening the abdominal wall can be performed during a tummy tuck operation. Whether or not liposuction is needed must be assessed during a consultation.

  • How much does liposuction cost?

  • Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

Liposuction varies in price depending on the area to be treated. If you want to treat several areas at the same time, we give you a combination discount.

  • How many kilos do you lose after liposuction?

  • Dr Gunnar Göransson.
    Answer:

Liposuction is not an operation that leads to a reduction in weight. The purpose of liposuction is to remove localised fat deposits such as on the stomach, waist, outer/inner thighs and even upper arms or neck.

It is important to remember that this is not a weight loss operation.

  1. Consultation and planning You will meet with a doctor to ask questions, address any concerns and clarify your expectations. You will also be shown pictures of the results of similar procedures and, for some treatments, we can also show you computer simulations of the treatment results.
  2. Preparations You will be given specific instructions regarding food and drink, smoking, medication, etc. It is important for you to start preparing and it is optimal to lose weight slowly or at least maintain the weight following the liposuction.
  3. The procedure itself Liposuction is performed under a combination of general and local anaesthesia. During liposuction we use "PAL" (power-assisted liposuction), which means that the liposuction cannula vibrates the fat, combined with syringes. You can go home the same day.
  4. The time after For a few days, some fluid is likely to leak through the incisions. You will wear a girdle for 2-3 months to minimise the risk of bumps and speed up healing. You may feel pain and temporary loss of sensation, or see swelling and bruising. Follow-up at the clinic after 4-6 months.

If you hire a clinic with experience and have received a careful and thorough consultation, liposuction is a relatively risk-free procedure. During a major liposuction, you lose fluid, which limits the amount you can take out. Some major procedures may therefore need to be done in two rounds, so as not to take any medical risks.

About liposuction / liposculpture

When you undergo liposuction, fat cells are removed. The best results are achieved by removing abnormal fat deposits in an otherwise normal weight person with good skin elasticity.

Liposuction cannot replace dieting or exercise and is not a method of treating general obesity. Although skin elasticity is reduced and skin wrinkles may be present after liposuction, many people find it very satisfying to have a more beautiful body with more harmonious proportions.

Realistic expectations

It is important that if you are considering liposuction you have a realistic view of what the procedure can achieve - your age or gender is of less importance.

Female abdominoplasty

Belly and back liposuction

Belly fat is one of the hardest things to get rid of despite proper diet and exercise. So it is not surprising that liposuction of the stomach is a very common procedure. With the help of surgery, it is not difficult to get a flatter stomach and more defined waistline.

The back is also incredibly effective to sculpt with liposuction. Over the years, the fat on the back creeps out and results in bra cups and "love handles". Often the back is liposuctioned at the same time as, for example, the stomach or thighs and results in a more shapely back, often appearing younger.

Liposuction of thighs, knees and calves

Complex over the appearance of the legs is not uncommon. Conturkliniken® offers all kinds of liposuction - even for the different parts of the bonesIt can be anything from reducing saddlebags or getting rid of disproportionate knees. By liposuctioning your thighs, knees or calves, you can change the silhouette of your body - and how you feel about your body. The resulting scars are minimal.

removing pike hanging with arm surgery

Liposuction arms

Tired of pike hanging around? We have a long experience of upper arm surgery, an effective solution for what cannot be trained away. Arms appear younger and tighter. Liposuction of the arms is also effective, permanently removing the fat cells. The procedure is not major, and most people can return to work after a few days, with a girdle on the area for a few weeks.

Liposuction face and chin

With today's thin needles, it is possible to liposuction almost every part of the body. Even the face and, for example chin can be treated with very good results. Often the patient can go home the same day - it's that easy to get rid of the annoying double chin!
