Rhinoplasty and nose surgery

Often, it is certain details of the nose that bother people. Rhinoplasty can make a large nose smaller, a wide nose narrower, a crooked nose straighter and a long nose shorter, among other things. The possibilities for change through rhinoplasty are many.

  • Do you operate on Asian noses?

  • I have a very large nasal tip and would like to make it narrower and also retract the nasal wings if possible. I also have a small bump on the bridge of my nose.

    Answer:

We have experience in operating on Asian noses. To assess whether an operation is appropriate and what we should do, it is best if you come for a consultation.

  • Can the singing voice be changed by nose surgery?

  • I sing and wonder if my voice would change if I had a nose job?

    Answer:

No, it is not likely, but there is always a small risk that the sound box will change when you operate on the nose. We always carefully inform patients, who are very dependent on their voice, about this. However, the risk is very small.

  • Can you operate to make the nose look like Kim Kardashian's nose?

  • I wonder if it is possible to have your nose operated like a celebrity in terms of appearance, such as Kim Kardashian or Irina Shayk? My nose is not very nice and I want a nose like theirs.

    Answer:

This is impossible to answer without having met you or seen your nose. I don't know what your nose looks like. It depends entirely on the conditions you have, but a good idea is to bring pictures where I can see what kind of nose you want. I think you should come for a consultation, so you will get a correct answer.

  • Can a broken nose be operated on?

  • If you have a broken nose, can you still come to you and seek help for an operation? Also, I would like to know how the patients feel after the surgery?

    Answer:

Yes, you can. In any case, it is important to look at the nose and assess the conditions. Feel free to include pictures from before the injury as well.

  • Can you do something about a nose that is too wide, long and pointed?

  • I have been thinking about doing something about my nose for a long time. I think it is too wide, long and pointed. As I live some distance from you, I am sending two pictures to assess whether anything can be done about it at all. If it is the case that something can possibly be done, I want to come for a consultation.

    Answer:

Yes, from what I've seen in the pictures, it can definitely be changed. You can lower the bridge of the nose, change the appearance and position of the tip, as well as lower it. However, in order to give you full information, we need to meet even if the journey is long. Welcome to book a consultation!

  • What is the cost of removing silicone implants in the nose?

  • I have a question about my nose. I have had a nose surgery with nasal implants in Thailand. I am thinking of taking it out, what will it cost?

    Answer:

It is impossible to answer over email. I would suggest that you come for a consultation, where you can get a fair price quote and we can also see what needs to be done, if anything, instead of that implant. There are many questions: How long have you had it? Have you had other surgeries on your nose when they put this in? Welcome and book a consultation.

  • Can you have a nose job if you have epilepsy?

  • I am 20 years old. I want to have a nose job within a year and have heard good recommendations about your clinic. I know exactly what my nose could look like and don't know if it means "full correction" but I would think so. I also have epilepsy, but have not had a seizure in five years and am on a regular dose. How does this affect an operation?

    Answer:

Epilepsy does not prevent surgery, but the anaesthetist decides on a case-by-case basis. Book an appointment for a consultation and we'll sort it out at the same time! Normally, those with epilepsy do well.

  • Can cortisone speed up the healing process after a nose job?

  • I had surgery on my nose 11 months ago in Thailand, where I had a rhinoplasty. My nose was exactly how I wanted it to look right after the surgery, but after he removed the tape 5 days later, it was much bigger than before the surgery. And it got even bigger up to 3 weeks later. I should also mention that at the time I was on a medication called Roacutan, which according to my dermatologist would not affect the healing process. I recently read information on an American plastic surgery forum site that this medicine can delay the healing process and sometimes even contribute to scarring. Therefore, surgery should be delayed for at least 6 months after completion of treatment. Of course, I'm sorry to hear that. Now it is still bigger than before the operation. It bulges too much at the transition from the nasal bone to the tip and is very disproportionate. In the beginning, I squeezed the nose and was able to mould it into a completely straight profile. I can mould it to almost the same shape as it was immediately after surgery if I press on it for 1-2 minutes. I have read that in cases like this you can speed up the healing process by getting a cortisone injection. How much do you charge for such an injection? Can I make an appointment for a consultation, preferably with Dr Rylander?

    Answer:

Thank you for your question. It is a difficult case to comment on. Some people can develop fibrosis and scarring a year after surgery. It is true that you should not operate when you are on roacutane. As a rule, I do not treat patients with cortisone if I have not operated myself, but this becomes a problem if you have operated in Thailand, as it is difficult to travel there. You are always welcome for a consultation.

  • Can I operate on several different nasal problems at the same time?

  • I have a problem in my nose, both nasal septums are crooked, I have difficulty breathing and I also have some crookedness on the outside. Can you operate all at once, or does it have to be done twice?

    Answer:

It is best, easiest and cheapest to address all problems at one time. You are welcome to book a consultation if you want more information.

  • Can I do rhinoplasty on a nose that has been dented and crooked due to an accident?

  • I am 16 years old and have been in a bus accident and since then my nose has been dented on the bridge of the nose and has become very ugly and crooked. I have been in contact with a surgeon from Linköping, who said I should contact you. I wonder if I can have a rhinoplasty?

    Answer:

Yes, but you must bring a guardian with you. Please also bring a record of the previous nasal assessment/operation report and a photo taken before the accident.

  • Can a Kenacort syringe dissolve cartilage formation on an operated nose?

  • Three years ago I had an operation on my nose at another clinic and during these years I have developed some cartilage. I have been advised by a plastic surgery professional to use a Kenacort syringe to dissolve the cartilage. I wonder if this is something you can help me with and also tell me the price (or at least an estimate) for such treatment?

    Answer:

Thank you for your question. As a rule, the Kenacort syringe is only used on patients that you have treated yourself and reasonably close to surgery. It does not work on cartilage, but it does work on scar tissue. I suggest you contact the doctor who operated on you if possible. If not, you should get in touch again. Cortisone does not help if it is cartilage.

  • What is your position on operations performed for reconstructive purposes?

  • I am wondering how surgical centres deal with clients who consider the surgery to be more of a reconstructive purpose, rather than an aesthetic one. I have the problem that my nose is so big that the tip and "back" irritate parts of my vision. Then I wonder if the interest in doing a cosmetic surgery disappears a bit if it is a reconstructive surgery.

    Answer:

Such patients are not uncommon at all! It can be surgery of the nose after injury or of the nasal septum due to nasal congestion or other reconstruction. There is no difference in how I see the patient. Feel free to book an appointment for a consultation if you wish!

  • Do you get nasal congestion after nose surgery?

  • I have heard that you get a blocked nose after nose surgery, is this true?

    Answer:

You may experience nasal congestion after nasal surgery. This is because after nasal surgery, the mucous membrane of the nose is initially swollen, which is why the nose may feel blocked for the first few weeks after surgery.

  • Can I operate on just the tip of my nose?

  • Answer:

Yes, it is perfectly possible to just operate on the tip of the nose, called a rhinoplasty.

You are very welcome to join us for a consultation, where we can look at your nose and give you an accurate price quote.

  • Can the nose be fixed without surgery?

  • Answer:

You can fix your nose without surgery using fillers. Fillers can be used to achieve minor changes in the shape of the nose, but if you are looking for more significant changes to the nose, the rhinoplasty best option.

You are very welcome to join us for a consultation, where we can look at your nose and see if we can fix what you want with fillers.

  • How much does a nose job cost?

  • Answer:

How much a nose surgery costs depends on what type of surgery you want to perform, whether it is only the tip of the nose that is to be fixed or whether it is a rhinoplasty where the shape of the entire nose is to be changed, a so-called total rhinoplasty. Another factor that affects the price is whether it is a so-called secondary rhinoplasty, ie that the nose has already been operated on before, which can be a more complicated procedure and is more expensive.

The exact cost of nose surgery will be explained to you during your consultation (Book a consultation here), but you can also see approximate prices in the our price list for all nasal operations.

  1. Consultation & planning You will meet with a doctor to ask any questions, address any concerns and clarify your expectations. It is important that we have a common goal for the surgery - with the help of the computer, this can be visualised, with the proviso that the final result may differ due to factors such as healing, and that your wishes are realistic.
  2. Preparations You will be given specific instructions on what to eat and drink, rules on smoking, use of vitamins, medicines and other preparations.
  3. The procedure itself The operation is performed under general anaesthesia, and after 2-3 hours you go home. Bruising and swelling may occur under the eyes.
  4. The time after You can return to work after 1-2 weeks. For a rhinoplasty, the plaster is removed after 1 week. The tape is removed after 3-5 days. Follow-up at the clinic after 1 week and final check-up after 12 months. Healing time varies from patient to patient.

Bleeding and infection are extremely rare and always treatable. Nasal congestion is a known complication of nasal surgery that can rarely occur in some patients, and is also treatable.

Due to the variation in healing after surgery, there are more post-operative adjustments for this procedure than for other procedures. These are often minor changes in shape and are made no earlier than 12 months after the operation.

Feel free to contact us at Conturkliniken® in Stockholm for a personal consultation, and we will tell you in more detail how the process works with us and also talk more about how we can help you.

The nose is an important part of the human body, both in terms of function and appearance. The nose is mainly made up of bone and cartilage. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your nose, rhinoplasty (nose surgery) can reshape and improve the shape of your nose. Nasal surgery to improve appearance must always take into account that the function of the nose should not be adversely affected.

surgery of the nose by nasal surgery

We have more than 20 years of experience in rhinoplasty.

There can be many reasons for wanting a rhinoplasty. The shape of the nose depends on various hereditary factors - with each family having its own particular shape of the nose. Many people who wish to undergo rhinoplasty want to correct their profile, which can be very pronounced due to a large nose, with rhinoplasty the entire nose or just the tip of the nose is reduced.

Rhinoplasty is an advanced cosmetic procedure that requires individual treatment and at Conturkliniken® in Stockholm we always aim to create a natural nose that harmonises with the rest of the face and functions optimally. A nose that is deformed externally can also have a reduced function and a rhinoplasty must not aggravate this. Sometimes rhinoplasty can be combined with, for example, chin implants/chin reduction to create a more harmonious and proportionate face.

Rhinoplasty can help you

Rhinoplasty can improve your appearance and your confidence, but it will not necessarily lead you to reach your ideal. The best candidates for rhinoplasty are therefore those patients who seek improvement rather than perfection of their appearance. Importantly, you can also improve your breathing if it is impaired due to a narrow airway caused, for example, by a deviated nasal septum or due to accidental injury or previous nasal surgery.

Consideration of breathing is therefore essential in all nasal surgery and in preserving or improving breathing after nasal surgery.

When it comes to rhinoplasty, the balance between the chin and the nose is crucial to how the size of the nose is perceived. Therefore, it is not uncommon for us to recommend chin implants as a complement or alternative to rhinoplasty.

If you are considering rhinoplasty, the following information will give you an idea of how we work at Conturkliniken® in Stockholm, how the process works and what results you can expect from rhinoplasty. But because every patient is unique, we can't give you all the answers here. That's why we always start with a personalised consultation.

Rhinoplasty with Conturmetoden™ - for a natural result

For us at Conturkliniken® in Stockholm, it is important to achieve a natural look that harmonises with the whole and does not reveal any procedure. Therefore, we perform rhinoplasty and all other treatments according to the Conturmetoden.

For us, Conturmetoden™ is not only about the procedure itself, but also about giving each patient a personalised approach throughout the treatment - where the follow-up is an important part for you, but also for us.

Combinations for a harmonising whole

No two people are the same. In our clinic, each treatment is individualised, and we often work with a combination of different procedures - both surgical and non-surgical.

Combining different methods in most cases gives a superior result, with less contrast after the procedure and a shorter recovery time as well as lower overall costs. But of course you can choose to do one thing at a time.
