  • Is the chin implant placed along the jaw?

  • I have some concerns about the chin implant that has appeared. My chin has like a lump of fat on the outside of the chin or bone, so when I smile that part sticks out a bit. The chin implant is placed along the jaw, right? I'm just thinking how pointed it will be so that it doesn't look unnatural, especially when I smile. Because I guess the lump of fat is then on the outside of the implant?

    Answer:

    The implant is placed directly on the bone and lifts the soft tissue, the chin is not pointed.

  • Can chin implants remove my double chin?

  • I have an overbite and small lower jaw and have long considered surgery or an implant in my chin. As soon as I talk or sing, I get a double chin because of this which is very frustrating. I was going to ask if an implant would be enough to get rid of this or if I need surgery on my jaw. If you have more before and after pictures of jaw surgery, please attach them.

    Answer:

    If the bite fits and nothing else is planned by the dentist, chin implants are suitable. We do not perform jaw surgery, therefore no pictures.

    A chin implant strengthens the jawline, but if there is fat under the chin, it can be removed with liposuction. A consultation will provide a more detailed assessment of the cause of your double chin.

  • How big are chin implants?

  • I have had a chin augmentation several years ago at another clinic and the chin implant is 7 mm in profile. I still think it looks too small and wonder how many mm you have on the largest chin implant that fits a woman if I were to change? Is it possible to special order one otherwise, if you don't have anything bigger?

    9 mm is the largest.

  • How much chin implant can be used?

  • I have a question about chin surgery and how much/how big the implant can be? I have a severe overbite and a small chin in an otherwise round face, which makes me almost completely shapeless. I would say barefoot.

    The projection of the chin implants is between 6-9 mm, thus building the profile. It is possible to add implants that also reinforce the jawline part. It is recommended that you come for a consultation; then we can show a simulated result on the computer.

  • Are braces compatible with chin implants?

  • I'm having a chin implant and I'm wondering if it's possible to get braces once the surgery is done? If you get braces, can it affect the outcome of the surgery? I need to know so that I don't have the operation and then later in life I need to remove it to get braces and then have to repeat the operation itself.

    Answer:

    The enlargement of the chin does not affect whether you adjust your teeth using braces.

  • Are chin implants the right choice for a more pointed chin?

  • My thoughts are whether a chin implant could reduce the fold in the chin and make it more pointed? My wishes are to get the chin less puffy, rather a little pointed and reduce the fold of course.

    The fold in the chin is best addressed by filling it, not with a chin implant. You can see examples in our before and after pictures.

  • Is silicone or own body fat used for chin implants?

  • Is it best to use silicone or your own body fat? I need a minor adjustment of about 1 cm. Is beard growth affected in the area where you have implants/own fat injected?

    Answer:

    It is possible to use both a chin implant and fat injection. However, fat injection may require more than one treatment.

  • Can you do a chin reduction if you have an underbite?

  • I am interested in a chin reduction and would like to know if it is possible to perform such an operation if you have an underbite? I would like to know before booking a consultation. Therefore, I am attaching two pictures of my chin and hope to get an answer if it is possible to perform a chin reduction.

    Answer:

    Yes, provided you have completed treatment for your underbite and are not planning further surgery with an oral surgeon. A chin reduction here is essentially a horizontal shortening of the leg and is therefore most visible in profile. From the front, the chin is not shortened vertically.   • How does chin reduction work in your clinic?

  • I have been thinking about reducing my chin for a very long time now and I thought I would now start digging deeper into it before I can decide if I should really do it. How does a chin reduction work at your clinic? I am looking for a clinic that grinds down the leg itself and not just to remove the fat. The result I want to try to achieve is a slightly smaller face, I now have an oblong face shape. You are welcome to share your knowledge, as I have only recently started looking for information about this.

    Thank you for your question! When you do a chin reduction with us, I chisel off as much of the bone as possible and, if necessary, also remove some of the fibrous fat pad that sits on the chin, but not everyone has a large one, so the most common thing is to chisel off the bone.   • Do you perform chin dimple reduction?

  • I have seen that you perform chinplasty in your centre. Something I've been wondering for a while now, is whether you do chin dimple reduction? If you do, how much would it cost? I am only interested in something more permanent. What I have understood is that it is not possible to remove the pits completely, which is perfectly fine with me as I am only interested in reducing it somewhat, as I feel that it is a little too prominent for me.

    Judging from the pictures, it should be possible to reduce the pit with a fat injection or maybe 2 treatments are needed.

  • Do you do jaw implants?

  • I have had liposuction under the jawline to make it more prominent. I am not satisfied and want the jaw to be even more pronounced. I have wondered if there are jaw implants and if so, is this something you perform?

    Answer:

    If you are referring to strengthening the projection of the chin, there are implants. If it is the entire jawline that you want to strengthen, I would recommend fat injection that can shape the jawline in a good way. My recommendation is to come for a consultation and we can probably find a solution.

  • How to emphasise the cheekbones and jawline more clearly?

    Answer:

    You can use your own fat, it gives a good and natural result. We only use chin implants in the face to enhance the profile, but even here we use fat.

Chin augmentation with a chin implant is a simple procedure with little risk. Your chin implant may not be completely stationary in its tissue pocket. A certain amount of movement is often acceptable, but if the implant moves too much or ends up in an incorrect position, this will need to be corrected by re-operation.

Loss of sensation on the chin may occur but will soon return.

Natural result with chin augmentation

Chin surgery is usually performed to enlarge the chin. The goal is to create a natural, new look for the chin that harmonises with the rest of the face.

The most common method of chin augmentation/chin implant is the insertion of a silicone implant in front of the jawbone. Thanks to a chin implant, you can change the size of your chin and have a more harmonious profile.

The procedure is gentle and gives a permanent result. For minor adjustments to the shape of the chin, we can also injection therapy with its own fat or hyaluronic acid be an option, this may sometimes need to be done in two sessions.

Chin reduction

There can be many reasons for changing the chin. If you have an overly prominent chin area, you may want to reduce it. The chin defines the lower part of the face and chin augmentation or chin reduction are common procedures.

Chin reduction involves the reduction of the bony part of the tip of the chin and/or the soft tissue, the fat pad on the tip of the chin.

Chin surgery involves an incision through the skin under the chin in the same way as chin augmentation with implants.

Excess bone at the tip of the chin can be chiselled down through this opening, as well as the fibrous fat pad at the tip of the chin which, like the chin bone, varies in thickness in different individuals. The aim is to give the chin area distinct features that harmonise with the other proportions of the face.
