- Consultation & planning There is time to ask questions and discuss your expectations. You will also see pictures of the results of similar procedures performed by us, and for some of our treatments we can also show computer-simulated illustrations. If you decide in favour of an operation, we will plan it together.
- Preparations You will be given clear instructions on what to eat and drink. If you are a smoker, we want you to be smoke-free for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the surgery.
- The procedure itself The surgeon makes an incision behind the ear so that there are no visible scars on the front. The cartilage behind the ear is reduced and the ear bends backwards. This brings the ear closer to the head. Afterwards, a bandage is placed around the head.
- The time after During the first 24 hours, you can reach your doctor 24 hours a day. The ear may feel sore, but severe pain is very rare. The pain goes away with the help of ordinary painkillers and usually disappears after a day. It is important to keep the dressing that is applied in the clinic to keep the ear in place, usually for 1-2 weeks, when you come back to remove the stitches. Until the ear is fully healed, you should avoid activities where you risk impact or damage to the ear.
