  • Do you remove visible blood vessels/spiders on children?

  • I wonder if you remove visible blood vessels/spider veins on children? My daughter is 6 years old and a couple of years ago got one on each cheek. What does it cost, and how long is the waiting time in that case?

    Answer:

It is better to wait, they sometimes disappear spontaneously with age.

  • Is it possible to remove a blue blood vessel under one eye?

  • I have a blue blood vessel under one eye, which I would like to remove by injection.

    Answer:

We do not inject vessels under the eyes, but they can be reduced using vascular laser treatment.

  1. Consultation & planning When you come to us, you will meet with a laser nurse who will plan the most appropriate treatment for your condition. Depending on the size, extent and area of the body, the number of treatment sessions will vary. We make a plan for how you will be treated and how the results will be maintained. The number of treatments is individual; thin vessels on the face may disappear after 1-2 sessions while larger vessels may need to be treated several times. For so-called 'burn marks', a series of treatments is often required.
  2. Preparations You will be given specific instructions on how to prepare, such as how to keep your skin as pale as possible. Dark skin contains a lot of pigment that gets very heated by the IPL pulse, so you should not be tanned or have used 'sunless tanning'.
  3. The procedure itself A cold gel is applied to the skin and a light prism is placed a few millimetres from the skin. Through this light prism, the light is gradually moved over the area. Protective goggles are used during the treatment. After the treatment, the skin may feel a little hot and it may also blush a little. This disappears quickly when we cool the skin.
  4. The time after For a few days, you may experience a redness or irritation of the skin. It takes a couple of weeks to see the results, depending on the size and depth of the blood vessels.

With an experienced practitioner, the risk of side effects is extremely low. A test treatment further reduces the risk of side effects.

In isolated cases, more severe redness and irritation may occur. Small blisters and pigmentation also occur. These problems always disappear.

If you have dark skin, the heat is more likely to be stronger, which slightly increases the risk of burns. Thanks to cooling - and our long experience, the risk of skin burns is reduced.

A laser or IPL treatment can help you against disfiguring blood vessels.

Almost everyone is affected by superficial blood vessels, both women and men of all ages. Many people are unnecessarily bothered by broken blood vessels, vascular malformations, red nose, burn marks, and redness in rosacea and scars.

How do superficial blood vessels arise?

The causes are very varied but hereditary factors are important. Hormonal influences such as pregnancy, rosacea, frostbite, excessive tanning or trauma can contribute to vascular changes.

As a rule, superficial blood vessels are never medically dangerous but rather aesthetically disturbing and can affect almost anyone, regardless of age and gender.

Which vessels can be treated?

The treatment works best on superficial abnormal blood vessels on the face, where you also get a structural improvement of the skin. In principle, most skin problems with a red colour can be treated, i.e. ruptured blood vessels, vascular malformations, red nose and burn marks. However, diffuse redness without vessels is difficult to remove. Vessels in scars can also be bleached.

On the legs, the best results are achieved with injection therapy.

At Conturkliniken® in Stockholm we also use IPL technology for the treatment of pigment spots and skin rejuvenation.

Removing disfiguring blood vessels with laser or IPL treatment

There is a difference between regular laser and IPL technology. A regular laser produces light of one wavelength, while an IPL machine produces light of many wavelengths.

The light is absorbed by, for example, pigments in the hair or the red pigments in the blood vessel and converted into heat. This causes the hair root to be destroyed, the blood in the vessel to coagulate and the vessel to reform. Both methods produce the same results. IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light - intense pulsed light emitted in pulsating waves.

The so-called IPL treatment we use is based on a technique based on medical laser technology, which we at Conturklinken in Stockholm have a very solid experience of.

Today we use ELOS technology, which is the absolute best and most effective IPL device on the market in terms of patient safety, comfort and efficiency. The device has a built-in cooling system that protects the skin and at the same time provides a more effective IPL treatment.
